Hi, I’m Blaz! 👋
I started my web development journey with WordPress, building custom plugins, themes, and complete websites from the ground up. Over time, I began creating more complex plugins that interacted with various APIs and solved challenging problems for clients.
A couple of years into my web development career, I expanded into e-commerce, building webshops with PrestaShop 1.6 and 1.7, again full stack. It was a great learning curve that taught me the ins and outs of e-commerce platforms, from managing catalogs and performance optimization to designing smooth checkout flows and integrations.
After that, I joined a Danish web agency where I specialized in frontend development. Most of my time there was spent building webshops in Magento 2, although I also handled occasional WordPress projects. I gained solid experience working with Hyvä Theme and ScandiPWA, the latter of which introduced me to React and gave me my first hands-on experience with modern component-based frontend development.
As my focus gradually shifted toward React and Next.js, I decided to sell my long-running WordPress plugin, Rate My Post, a rating plugin I built back in 2018 that grew to over 20,000 active installs and received hundreds of five-star reviews. It felt like the right time to hand it over to someone who could continue improving it, while I moved fully into the modern JavaScript ecosystem.
Today, I work in-house for a larger e-commerce company as a Frontend Developer, focusing on Next.js, React, and TypeScript.
This website is where I share what I learn, document side projects, and occasionally reflect on the journey — from building WordPress plugins to developing modern web applications. I’m also an avid hiker (check nailthetrail.com) and I maintain a book portal called truewartales.com
